Lead – Northland Wrestling is Coming to the Durham Community Centre and Arena on July 17th at 1pm. Concessions will be sold on site as a fundraiser for the Fabulous Festival of Fringe Film. There is a full card of hard-hitting and high-flying professional wrestlers ready to entertain as only they can. Free Wrestling Event for all ages. All are welcome!

Body – The Fabulous Festival of Fringe Film is running July 14th – 23rd in Durham and surrounding communities presenting contemporary art and film works in many formats. We will be activating downtown Durham, the Colour Jar, the Hanover Drive-In Theatre, the Durham Conservation Area and the Durham Community Centre and Arena. 

This year is the first time the festival has partnered with a wrestling company to conduct large-scale community events. Northland Wrestling has a long tradition of working in rural and northern Ontario and offered to come to Durham and put on a great show. Originally, the event was going to be ticketed but Northland offered to conduct actions at a reduced rate in order to be able to offer a free wrestling event to the public. The festival will be accepting donations on site as well as selling popcorn, water and soda as a fundraiser. 

Boilerplate – Founded in 2002, the Fabulous Festival of Fringe Film was established to bring contemporary and unconventional arts into the public realm. To present and commission experimental, interdisciplinary and interventionist forms of time-based work in accessible settings. To give exposure to emerging artists while celebrating established cultural producers. To highlight our rural context that has always already been a location inhabited by diverse Indigenous peoples and a site of cross-cultural negotiation. The festival has gradually raised its profile from a small gathering of rural artists to engaging without borders in cross-cultural collaborations impacting the overall Canadian arts ecology. Working with artists, curators and community the festival has become a major arts activation drawing audiences from hundreds of kilometers while continuing to present challenging ideas that ignite thought and discourse.
